Upcoming National Federation of Music Clubs event "The Festival" will be Sunday February 28th12/30/2020 This year's event will not be in person, but submitted videos for the judges. We continue to adjust as needed and the students are eagerly fine tuning their performance pieces and studying for their theory exams. If the studio's students do as well as last year students will be earning 17 gold cup trophies!
Since we couldn't do the recitals live this year, we tried something new. Families were asked to add family members to their performances. It was so fun to have the guest singers, guitar players, and pianists involved!
The Piano Forte business downtown is having a clearance sale on their used pianos and digital pianos. For those of my students looking to upgrade, now is a good time. https://www.usedpianoschicago.com/?fbclid=IwAR1weTN9ku_D53xsohkGQaxOZDHE6zmv-3hHnfa-Jmg7wFA49gHQMS4XhYA
So happy to have new talented students joining our music studio family! Andrew kicked off the fun, performing after just a few months of lessons.
Another student's mother started lessons just 2 weeks before and performed for us as well. We are always happy to meet new students, and make them feel welcome. Next month we will have our 3rd Annual Halloween Recital. Hoping to hear many fun and creepy pieces and show off this year's costumes. This years Halloween Potluck Recital will be at the studio in the Old Irving neighborhood on Saturday October 20th at 4:00 p.m. Come ready to sing and snap along to "The Addams Family" theme songs and more. So proud of this young lady. After only 4 months at the studio, she earned her first superior in the National Guild Auditions!
Students are preparing for the International Guild Auditions. Here they will perform a 2 to 15 piece program with accompanying scales and chords for a distinguished Guild Judge.
Although I am the Downtown Chicago Chairperson, I utilize two audition centers for the convenience of my students and their families. The first will be located in Skokie, at 5 Hands Studio on May 5th. The second will be located in downtown Chicago, at Sherwood School of Music, Columbia College. This event will be on May 21st. I ask that my students participated, at any level, to take a snap shot of their progress and gain experience preparing and conducting a performance. As this performance is solely for one judge, it can be less scary for the beginning student. Thus I encourage all my students to participate. More on the Guild event and awards to come, stay tuned! So proud of my students that are receiving their first 15 point Gold Cup trophies!
Students that participate in the National Federation of Music Clubs Festival event can earn 5 points each year, if they score a Superior rating. These students each participated in at least two events. Piano Solo, two pieces memorized and performed in front of other students at their level, families, & two judges. And the Musicianship test; a written exam on Theory basics and some music history, in the higher levels. Every 15 points the students can earn a larger trophy, 15, 30. 45 points etc. This event is for students through their High School senior year. Congratulations to my 16 students that participated in this year's event. Bravo! On of my music families is giving away a family piano, a very well cared for piano. If you are interested, please contact me and I will get you in touch with the owner.
This piano needs to be picked up by Thursday October 26th. |
